Unusual & Informal weekends - offering both Interior Design & Decorating courses.

I am a qualified lecturer teaching Interior Design. offering both introduction courses in Interior Decorating and Interior Design.

I am a professional Interior Designer with over 20 years experience running my own business, in conjunction with my teaching experience this enables me to offer potential students a valuable insight into this field.

These small friendly classes are held in my comfortable home, a creative, eclectic and comfortable venue. This chosen learning environment is an extremely enjoyable and productive way of gaining knowledge, experience and most practical aspects of Interior Design.

Course 1: Interior Decorating - 2 day course

Colour analysis - understanding colour concept.
Understanding textures and patterns and how to use them in the home.
Soft furnishings - Understanding the use of fabrics in curtain and bedhead design.
Create and visualise exciting curtain design, taking into account exisitng window size and shape but choosing the correct style of window dressing.
Various walls and surface applications. Wall papers, emulsions, paint finishes, special effects and unusual applications.
Floor surfaces and the many varied applications.
Understanding the importance of lighting applications.
Space planning - floor plan, measured drawings.
Creating a mood and sample boards.

Recommended for students who are interested in domestic interiors and wish to design and decorate their own homes with confidence, style and flair.

Course 2: Interior Design - 2 day course

This course covers the same subjects given in course 1, although in a condensed format. The additional subjects listed below:

How to execute a total design project.
Drawings : measured to scale, plans and elevations.
Lighting specification, where and how to apply.
Structural tuition - planning an interior which involves removing or adding walls.

Recommended for those who wish to gain knowledge and confidence to:

Enlist in a foundation or college qualification course.
Pursuit a career in Interior Design.
To gain a clearer understanding of Interior Design, enabling one to manage their own home scheme or with other projects with a professional and knowledgeable approach.

Both these small (maximum 6) courses can be tailored to individual students requirements, as like minded students are placed together. For maximum learning and enjoyment.
